OOW 2012: Oracle Managed File Transfer (MFT) preview

At a current customer, we implemented an impressive java framework for file transfers, based on Quartz.

It does the following:
  • Designed for file transfers (including extremely large files)
  • No complicated transformation
  • Supports FTP, SFTP, FTPS, CIFS (aka SMB), VPN, PGP
  • Scheduling, triggering, encryption/decryption, renaming, archiving, streaming
  • Can perform post-transfer actions based on success/failure
  • Web-based GUI
This is an excellent and impressive framework that took a few months to develop, and is used throughout the organization.

It seems that Oracle is soon releasing the Oracle Managed File Transfer (MFT), which does all of this and more! Where were you guys 6 months ago?!

I attended a presentation on this product, and it appears to be extremely useful, easy to use, and covers 100% of all requirements you could ever imagine being needed by a file transfer tool. It definitely fills in a much needed gap and complements the other Oracle integration tools very well.
